The Australian Islamic Centre in Newport, Melbourne, is an internationally celebrated modern architectural triumph designed by Pritzker Prize laureate Glenn Murcutt in collaboration with Hakan Elevli. The groundbreaking design reinterprets traditional Islamic architecture with 96 triangular colored glass lanterns embedded in the roof, flooding the raw concrete prayer hall with evolving Australian natural daylight.
